Nathan and I would really love to eat healthier. We’d like to go “sugar free” next month. We had a conversation about what we will allow/not allow during this no-sugar-challenge. We know for sure that we are going to cut high fructose corn syrup and desserts. We know that things like pop tarts, sugar cereals, waffles, and soda are definitely a no. We also know that things like whole wheat bread, oatmeal w/o added sugar, (cinnamon goes a long way for flavor,) and yogurt are going to be okay. We also would like to cut out white flours as much as possible. Unfortunately, I stocked up on pasta that contains white flour a few months ago! We decided that once that pasta is gone, we will go whole wheat and possibly organic if we can.
It is hard to go organic/healthy. It costs more! Way more! But, I feel like there are areas of our diet that we can go organic/healthier and eventually ease our way into that way of life.
I was reading up on Centsible Sawyer’s blog about the deals at Wal-Mart this week. I was happy to find some deals on healthy stuff that I will definitely be able to afford!
Soy Milk $2.98 – $2 printable = $.98
Green Giant Fresh Valley Steams $1.27 (My store had corn at $1.17) – $1 printable = $.27
South Beach Drink Mix $2 -$2 printable = FREE!
Cascadian Farms Organic Purely Steam $1.22 -$1 printable = $.22
Muir Glen Canned Tomatoes $1.16 (They are $1.38 at my store.) – $1 printable = $.16 or $.38
Kashi Cereal is on sale 2/$4 – $2 printables = FREE!
Kashi crackers are on sale 2/$5. Use one of the $2 printables = $.50
Juicy Juice (100% natural) $1.50- $1 printable = $.50
There are also several deals listed where you can use coupons that will give you an overage making your total even smaller. (I love it when you can “make” money buying stuff!)
With some of these healthier deals, I feel better about the prospect of going healthier and more organic. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for other inexpensive healthy/organic deals and fill you in!
In the mean time, check out the Centsible Sawyer!

You did a great job at finding fabulous deals!
That’s really neat that you’re trying to eat healthier by cutting refined sugar from your diet. I don’t know if I would have the discipline to do that!
I tried whole wheat pasta once, but I just couldn’t enjoy the texture. I hope you enjoy yours.
