Minimizing Monday- The coupon Giveaway edition!

Well friends, I don’t have a toy box to minimize, (the theme of this week’s Minimizing Monday,) but I am ready to purge some coupons!

I went through my cute little coupon organizer, (I just have one of those alphabetic coupon organizers from Wal-Mart that just cost $1.50.)

I took out all expired coupons, removed all the non-food item coupons and placed them in the very back of my organizer. I rarely buy these items and it just makes sense to move them out of the way so I can readily get to what I use most often.

I also took out coupons for stuff I know I will never use. I don’t like Fiber One yogurt, so those coupons I removed. I am allergic to all scents in lotions, so I removed lotion coupons. There are brands of household cleaners that are not my favorite, (I am trying to go all natural in this area of life as well.) I also removed coupons for sweets as hubbie and I are going to go sugar-free next month! (Read my 30 Days of Nothing Challenge post.)

I went through all my local stores ads and found great deals on organics, healthy, and natural products! I posted them in my new weekly deals section, or you could just scroll down and read them. I am ready for a week of healthy shopping!

I now have about $50 worth of coupons, $20 in food, $30 in household and personal products yo pass on to someone else. (Products like Little Debbie, Betty Crocker, Lucky Charms, Fancy Feast, Toaster Strudel, Pizza Rolls, Hamburger Helper, Gogurt, Dora Yoplait and such. Non-food products such as Jergins, Lever Soap, Swiffer, Windex, Vaseline, Pert Plus, and Mr. Clean.)

If you are interested, just leave a comment below. Any tips you have on minimizing or healthy or organic living on a budget would be much appreciated!

Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you. I’ll announce the winner on Friday, September 19th!

  • The only tip that I have for organic living on a budget is shop local farmer’s markets and/or grow your own fruits, vegetables and herbs.

  • I just found your site today through handprints on the wall. I make a lot of my own cleaning supplies. I use mostly vinegar and baking soda and it is amazing what it will clean.

I’m bookmarking your site and keeping my fingers crossed!

  • I did the same thing on Sunday. My coupon files (I have 2) never looked better!

  • I live in the country and we have gardens each year. My grandmother who isn’t able to physically tend to a big garden has about 30+ planters sitting on her outside porch. And, by george, her green thumb reaps wonders in those pots.

  • The only thing I have to add it that we are trying to cook from scratch, in order to eliminate additives and save money at the same time!

  • I am constantly reorganizing my coupon system. I just created a new system this weekend. I go through my coupons on a weekly basis, and I send all my expired coupons to families stationed overseas for use at the commissary. Also, when I’m clipping coupons, I don’t even file coupons that I know I won’t use. I put them in a separate pile to give away. There’s no point in filing it and just cluttering up my system if I know I’m never going to buy the product in a million years.

  • You could try joining a CSA group or buying directly from local farms. Check out this website to find locally grown organic foods: http://www.localharvest.org/

  • Found your site through moneysavingmom, and I will bookmark for sure! I to shop the produce stand weekly and it cuts out a good amount of money that would have otherwise been wasted in the produce section of the grocery store!

Thanks for the giveaway! Count me in!

  • Me Me Me! Well I have never done much in the organic way of living, so I am not sure I would be of any help there, but we do manage to grow some of our own herbs & veggies (we live in an apartment now, but I can’t WAIT to get a house so I can have a BIG garden!) Hey you are announcing the winner on my birthday…That is fun. =)

  • I just started making my own laundry detergent.

  • The only tip that I can come up with is to grow your own garden. I started veggie gardening a couple years ago and found it was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

    Awesome contest!

  • I just learned the couponing game and love it! I have a ministry that is just starting as well. I hope to teach others this wonderful skill too!

  • Love the contest. I’m like several others and have found that growing your own garden and visiting farmers’ markets are the easiest way to do the organic thing. Big Lots (if you have one around) is also a great place to find awesome deals on organic products (although it can be hit and miss at times)

  • My advice is to organize your coupons in baseball card holders, then place the holders in a binder. The see through plastic makes it much easer to know which coupons you have. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • Great giveaway. I am new to couponing so just learning myself.

  • I am new to the whole organic idea. I am actually thinking about going organinc in my daily life as well.

  • We try to eat home cooked meals as often as possible to make our diet more healthy. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • I’m the opposite, I use more non-food coupons then food, I really need to get better at the food ones!

  • Great giveaway!!! Thank you!!!

  • I have to agree the key to healthier eating is eating at home, and avoiding fast food.
